The Do’s and Don’ts of babysitting jobs


Nannies wanted are everywhere. You may find babysitting jobs attractive but be aware of the simple rules in becoming a nanny. Here are the things that one should do as well as the things that they shouldn’t.

DOS:

ü Always ask for the parent’s contact number. There are things that you may need to ask. Keep it handy.

ü Keep a directory of emergency numbers like the fire department, 911, the nearest hospital or police station. Unavoidable circumstances could happen, it is better to be prepared.

ü Know if your ward has allergies. It’s okay to feed them as long as it won’t do them any harm. And please feed the kid on time.

ü Make sure that there is a first-aid kit available. Know where it is located so you can easily grab it when the need for it arises.

ü Find ways to make your stay with the kid as fun as possible. Be creative.

ü Most of all know the family rules. Be obedient enough to follow them.

DON'TS:

ü Don’t burn the telephone lines. Avoid unnecessary calls.

ü Don’t even think of inviting some friends to stay with you. They are distractions.

ü Don’t try leaving them even for just a short while. Accidents may happen in a short span of time.

ü Don’t try babysitting different kids at the same time. It could mean more money but it opens a lot of complications.

ü Once the kid is already asleep, watch your ward from time to time. He could get bitten by insects or might fall out of bed.

Knowing the basics should keep you from getting into a lot of dilemma. Remember, you are supposed to work. Follow these simple tips you are sure to keep your babysitting job for a long time.
